A.D.WILSON'S GRAPHIC DESIGN SECTION #5- THE ASTHMA WARRIORS MAGAZINE

In this section of my Blog, I am showcasing a illustrated magazine that I had created for the Mount Sinai Hospital, Key Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson and Marvel Entertainment (the Marvel Comics group),
called...The ASTHMA WARRIORS!!

This magazine was developed to help educate inner city youth, and adults about the many hazardous effects of asthma and to also prevent future asthma attacks and the many different types of medications and hospital treatment that are available.

The Asthma Warriors' publication project was also assisted by the Mount Sinai Hospital Pediatric Health Program. When I was hired by the Mount Sinai Hospital, they originally wanted to use characters from Marvel Comics. But could not happen at all, because of the limited financial funding and various legal issues. BUT, all of that had quickly changed....

So, I was hired to created to make a brand new concept and characters for the story. So what I did was this: I developed the actual conceptual artwork-making the heroes and villains of that story. created the name of the good-guys' logo brand (THE ASTHMA WARRIORS).

Once the illustrated artwork and the cover was created, the financial backers of the project only wanted to have a print run of 5000 copies. But when they had the opportunity to view the artwork for their meetings. They quickly changed their minds and decided to have a print -run of 100,000 copies.

The Asthma Warriors magazine was distributed as a promotional Free Give-A-Way to all public schools, junior high and high schools, children's clinics, and hospitals across the U.S. in 1997. And during the actual time of the printing and distribution of the Asthma Warriors.

In the very near future, I am planning to re-print the Asthma Warriors magazine and it will have more heroes, Villains and more information about Asthma Prevention and more pages. And there's the possibility of Illustrated Graphic novel version of the Asthma Warriors coming real soon.

So check out the pages of the Asthma Warriors and breathe easy.....
