A.D.WILSON'S GRAPHIC DESIGN SECTION #6- NEW CREATED ARTWORK

In this new section of my website, I am showing some more of my graphic designs that I have recently created from the various freelance graphic design projects that I have worked on. Some of the created works are a combination of traditional hand drawn illustration and computer graphics.

And some are just entirely created by a computer graphic design program. I have a lot of work and I am only going to showcase the best stuff (and maybe some of my bad stuff).  I believe that a graphic designer/ illustrator should showcase their best work and sometimes their worst materials.

Why? Because, if you only showcase your best created works, then how would anyone would understand how you managed to get to your current level of visual artistic achievement? When you make a mistake in creating your artwork, you might realize your strengths and your weaknesses. An excellent visual artist should always learn from their mistakes, strengthen their areas of (creative) weaknesses and continue to experiment (creatively) and learn to improve your artistic abilities.

Like I have mentioned earlier, in this showcase, I will be adding more samples of my graphic designs that I have created in this showcase---very soon.

BRAND NEW MESSAGE for November 9,2011- I have added two more brand new graphic designs that I have created for a new client & project that I'm working on. The look that I was trying to capture, was a real 1920's to 1940's Art Deco retro look, for a company based in the New York area.
I have some more different versions of this particular project. I might have them posted on here very soon.

BRAND NEW MESSAGE for December 12, 2011- I have added some brand new images that either might be or will be used for a brand new storyboard project that I am working on. If you would like to view the new images of my latest storyboard project, then go to my Illustrated Storyboard section. And remember, I will be adding some more images (storyboard frames) to this section.
As of now, please take a look at them and enjoy. - A.D.W- 2011

A.D.WILSON'S GRAPHIC DESIGN SECTION #5- THE ASTHMA WARRIORS MAGAZINE

In this section of my Blog, I am showcasing a illustrated magazine that I had created for the Mount Sinai Hospital, Key Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson and Marvel Entertainment (the Marvel Comics group),
called...The ASTHMA WARRIORS!!

This magazine was developed to help educate inner city youth, and adults about the many hazardous effects of asthma and to also prevent future asthma attacks and the many different types of medications and hospital treatment that are available.

The Asthma Warriors' publication project was also assisted by the Mount Sinai Hospital Pediatric Health Program. When I was hired by the Mount Sinai Hospital, they originally wanted to use characters from Marvel Comics. But could not happen at all, because of the limited financial funding and various legal issues. BUT, all of that had quickly changed....

So, I was hired to created to make a brand new concept and characters for the story. So what I did was this: I developed the actual conceptual artwork-making the heroes and villains of that story. created the name of the good-guys' logo brand (THE ASTHMA WARRIORS).

Once the illustrated artwork and the cover was created, the financial backers of the project only wanted to have a print run of 5000 copies. But when they had the opportunity to view the artwork for their meetings. They quickly changed their minds and decided to have a print -run of 100,000 copies.

The Asthma Warriors magazine was distributed as a promotional Free Give-A-Way to all public schools, junior high and high schools, children's clinics, and hospitals across the U.S. in 1997. And during the actual time of the printing and distribution of the Asthma Warriors.

In the very near future, I am planning to re-print the Asthma Warriors magazine and it will have more heroes, Villains and more information about Asthma Prevention and more pages. And there's the possibility of Illustrated Graphic novel version of the Asthma Warriors coming real soon.

So check out the pages of the Asthma Warriors and breathe easy.....

A.D.WILSON'S GRAPHIC DESIGNS-SECTION #4-PACKAGE DESIGNS

In this section of my Blog, I'm showing a few samples of some experimental and creative ideas of package designs for digital watches. Some time last year, I had contacted a watch company called M.Z.B Watches Inc. in Queens, New York, that was looking for new graphic designers for their company.

In order for the company to hire a designer for the positions that were available (at that time) you had to create a realistic 3D-model of a digital watch, that also featured one or several characters, that were major clients of that watch company.

The company was looking for several important things in the presentation of the watch package designs,
1) Originality of the packaging concept that clearly promotes the client's company logo, pictures and or characters.
2) Creativity that shows a degree of professional effort and clear promotion of the company's product(s).
3) A clear and professional looking 3- dimensional production model of the watches.

As you can see, I have done just that and the designed concepts that I had created, if they were available to the general public, I believe that they would sell very quickly and become instant collector's items.

A.D.WILSON'S GRAPHIC DESIGNS-SECTION #3-ILLUSTRATED STORYBOARDS

In this section of my Blog, I am featuring some of the visual storyboards that I have done for a major New York city based advertising firm, (located on Manhattan's Madison Avenue) "The Madison Group"- of Young and Rubicam Brands.

Young & Rubicam Brands is one of the most well-known advertising firms in New York, North America and around the world. If you watch television commercials that feature any well-known actors, musicians and other types of celebrities, and various every day products.

Then there's a good chance that Young & Rubicam Brands were the ones who created those commercials, that also appear on the Internet, and even in your local movie theaters. Young & Rubicam Brands have been in the advertising business since the early 1920's.

They also create many of the printed advertisements that currently appear in nearly every magazine and newspaper in world. As for me, I was hired as a Freelance Storyboard Artist/ Graphic Designer, for the Young & Rubicam Brands' art department that was called The Madison Group.

Here are some great samples of my illustrated storyboards, the first one is a re-make of an old 1960's era
advertisement for Vaseline's Hair Tonic. It has that classic "Sean Connery/ James Bond look". This was an actual commercial for this Men's hair care product.

Then the second batch of illustrated storyboards, was for an art project for a short story that I had wrote called "MONEY, MAYHEM AND MURDER." I created the storyboards to show how I (if I was going to make a film) to have the beginning  of the story played out.

And then the third batch of my illustrated storyboards, was created for a South Korean and New York city based educational company called Purun New York. Which featured two kids named Plato & Pippa and a crazy (and very cool) cartoon dragon.

Which educated children in Seoul, South Korea to clearly understand certain important educational subjects that appeared in the company's children's books.

BRAND NEW MESSAGE for December 12, 2011- I have added some brand new images that either might be or will be used for a brand new storyboard project that I am working on. If you would like to view the new images of my latest storyboard project, then go to my Illustrated Storyboard section.

A.D.WILSON'S GRAPHIC DESIGNS-SECTION #2-PUBLIC EMPLOYEE PRESS ART

In this section, I am featuring the editorial illustration artwork, that I had created for a New York City based newspaper, (which is located a few blocks away from Ground Zero) called THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEE PRESS.

If you (or) your relative or a family friend who either currently (or) who might have recently retired as a city worker, for any of the various NYC based organizations and unions, then they would receive this newspaper by mail.

This newspaper covers all of the most important news reports, events and happenings that have many city workers, city officials and the Mayor and the Governor that was directly involved. From major financial scandals, political appearances and new changes in hiring new city workers and even major protests,  that you might not even see in the other New York newspapers.

Here are a few of the editorial illustrations and the news articles that I had also worked on, while I was working there as a Editorial Illustration Artist/ Graphic Designer.

A.D.WILSON'S GRAPHIC DESIGNS-SECTION#1-M.T.V.'S PROMOTIONAL ART

The graphic designs that appear in this section are from The M.T.V.s' 1997 Sports and Music Festival for Austin, Texas. The entire sporting event was a televised showcase for extreme sports and music. Many of the top professional extreme sports athletes from the U.S.A and from and from around the world competed in various extreme sporting venues.

The graphic designs that were created for this event appeared in a small paper-back sized digest, as a free promotional give-a-way to the people, who attended the various sporting and music events. M.T.V. had made a successful print-run of this promotional booklet of 10,000 copies.

Also featured in this promotional give-a-way was a image of the actor Lee Majors who played The Six Million Dollar Man on television in the 1970's.
